Workshop on Sheltering

posted Jul 31, 2009 5:11 PM by John Forest
When: July 30th 5:30 - 8:30 PM
Where: Farmington High School
            11 Thayer Drive
            Farmington, NH

In a statewide disaster, local Emergency Management Directors and other community emergency organizers and volunteers are the first to respond in their towns. With heavy demands in a regional disaster, the Red Cross and State agencies may not get to every town quickly enough to meet all demands, especially the call for emergency shelters. This workshop will help communities be ready to respond to immediate sheltering needs.

Please RSVP by 7/22/09 to Dan Brennan via email brennand@redcross-concordnh.org or 225-6697 x212. Dinner will be provided

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills. CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) organizes and utilizes public health and medical volunteers. These volunteers prepare for and respond to emergencies and act as a support to existing public health and emergency resources. Retired professionals, who have maintained their credentials, and would be available during disaster, are especially needed.
